I have come to the conclusion that all this freaking stress and running around does not make for a happy holiday season for me. I have decided that I will only do what I want to do and not kill myself to do everything and do it perfectly. I know we all have insane amounts of stress at this time of year. How do you handle yours?

uuum. we are supposded to handle it?? Ok, seriously. When we moved to KY I made the entire family mad when I declared that I would not be coming in Christmas Eve. If anyone wants to have us present at their Christmas functions, they will have them on the weekend we are coming to town. If they can't move their party, we can't come. This has alienated me from one whole side of my family. The other side is really good about asking what weekend we are coming and will plan things that weekend so we can come. I want my family to be able to enjoy Christmas morning at our own house. Everyone is more than welcome to come to MY house on Christmas day, but I'm not leaving. (of course, only my ILs ever take me up on that. My sis that lived in KY last Christmas came over, too) So, basically, we don't have the running around like we used to. We go to Missouri one weekend in December and celebrate all weekend long. As in, this year we have my niece's Christmas program Friday morning, a dinner Friday night, Saturday Christmas breakfast with my sisters (used to be Christmas morning, are now changing it just for me), lunch with my grandmother's family, dinner with my MIL's family, then Sunday lunch with my grandfather. (Same family as Saturday, but grandparents are divorced. No presents at the Sunday one. Just to give him presents.) So, there ya go. Only one stressful weekend. Makes for a much more enjoyable season.

They'll get over it. And if not, then that's one less thing I have to worry about. Good for you!

Since we have a fairly small family we just all go to my parents house, so really no stress there. The only stress I have is getting everyone's presents, what to buy them and how much to spend.
